Starry Guide

The challenge

Van Gogh Europe Foundation invited us to work together on a project to generate a new concept, balancing the cultural and economic ideals of the organisation. From this starting point, we have developed a project that aims to address common challenges faced by visitors, such as lack of personalisation, accessibility barriers, and passive engagement, by leveraging cutting-edge technology to create a tailored and interactive exploration experience suitable for everyone. When one of the best-known and largest developments of the museum of this century is how visitors are increasingly approached as active participants in a living museum ecosystem, the audio tour seems ready for an update - or a younger innovative brother. It prompts the question: is there no complimentary multimedia support that can answer the audio tours’ criticised lack of interactivity, individual experience, and its catering to uniformity? Research suggests that the audio tour that allows the visitor to have interactive and personalised engagement experiences with the life and work of artists in museums has yet to be developed. It is from this horizon that we propose the interactive Starry Guide.

The solution

We propose the development of an innovative mobile application designed to revolutionise the way visitors engage with the art and legacy of Vincent van Gogh. Leveraging the extensive knowledge and expertise of Van Gogh Europe, this app will serve as a cut-edge AI-powered tour guide, providing users with personalised experiences, tailoring responses to user inquiries and enabling interactive engagement to prompt exploration and dialogue in museums, heritage sites, and beyond.
